Fun with 404 error messages
Jun. 7th, 2007 04:01 pmHere's a website associated with Mudcat: A Digital Tradion Mirror Site, that appears to be very broken.
Every time you click on one of the alphabetical index links, you get a 404 "Not found on this server" message.
But you also get a random verse from the Tao Teh Ching, my favorote book of philosophy. Thusly:
(clicks on the "A" for Ann):
404 Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
We suggest you turn to the Tao Teh Ching:
40
All movement returns to the Tao.
Weakness is how the Tao works.
All of creation is born from substance.
Substance is born of nothing-ness.
-- tr. J. McDonald
(and the "F" for Frary):
404 Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
We suggest you turn to the Tao Teh Ching:
22
Yield and overcome;
Bend and be straight;
Empty and be full;
Wear out and be new;
Have little and gain;
Have much and be confused.
Therefore the wise embrace the one
And set an example to all.
Not putting on a display,
They shine forth.
Not justifying themselves,
They are distinguished.
Not boasting,
They receive recognition.
Not bragging,
They never falter.
They do not quarrel,
So no one quarrels with them.
Therefore the ancients say, "Yield and overcome."
Is that an empty saying?
Be really whole,
And all things will come to you.
-- tr. Feng
The site may be broken, but I'm thinking of bookmarking it, anyway. :-)
