Wow!!
And, um, Wow!!
(It was the first movie [or tv show, for that matter] that I've ever watched with Dad where he actually leaned forward in his seat in anticipation... mentioned this to him later, and he said it was the first movie he'd seen where he had no idea what was going to happen next).
Don't really know what to say about it, really, because each visual detail and plot twist meshed with each of the other ten thousand details so finely that pull it apart and talk about different "bits" would make it all sound flat.
Ya know?
So just -- do what you can to see it!
Go to see it in the theater, if it hasn't been pulled already, to be replaced by some cheap, surface-reality thriller. Of if it's too late for that, pounce on it when it comes out on video /DVD...
And I know there is a debate over subbed or dubbed versions of anime, but I think I'm glad I saw the dubbed version -- at least for the first time. Subtitles would have covered up some of the picture, and you can't watch everything that's going on on the screen and read stuff at the same time...
And seeing this movie reminded me of something I discovered about myself years ago:
I prefer "fantasy" fiction to "realistic" fiction, because so-called realistic fiction allows no room in the stories for the un-seen, the mysterious, spiritual side of things. And, based on my life experience, that's just the surface of reality... real reality has magic...
That's all for now, folks...
