Yeah... So I crossed the 20,000 word mark around noon -- But really, to be honest, there's no way I'm going to completely finish by 11:59 pm.
But what I am trying to do is write in all the SLUGLINES (when-and-where shorthand) and Action (as in actual people moving around), and just marking where I want dialog.
What I want is to at least have all the basic pieces in place between where I am and where I want my FADE OUT to be.
Then, I can go back and fill in the dialog and and pretty descriptions, later.
Even so, it's gonna be a nail-biter to get it all in... But at least it will be possible.
I'm thinking, now, that this is a strategy that would have served me well throughout the month... if only I'd started using it sooner than the 28th. Maybe I'll slip that tip into the "advice for first-timers" thread. Still want to finish (and revise) this thing once the draft is done. I'll still give myself a hard deadline for the dialog. If not tomorrow, than Tuesday (the day before THE big American Holiday... that's a good punctuation point.
That hasn't happened with either of the NaNos... by this day in November, I couldn't wait to see the back of them.
Okay. Diving back in...
