just a quick note On Writing:
Apr. 21st, 2003 12:03 amIn order to break out of my bad habit of letting myself get bogged down in one story at a time, and not thinking up any new ones until the one I'm working on is finished. I'm going to make a New Rule that is just the opposite.
For the next week or two, I will only write the beginnings of stories -- set up the opening gambit, and move on. After I have a dozen or so openings under my belt, then I will go back and write the next bits -- maybe. I'll have to see which ones call my attention back to them the strongest.
A bit like when a farmer plants his seeds, planting 3 or 4 seeds for every 1 plant he wishes to harvest, in case not all of them germinate. And if they do all germinate, then he weeds out the weaker seedlings.
I loved studying writing and literature formally, but I think it did contribute just a bit to the squelching of my childish creative energy... Now that I am a supposed "grown up," I hope I can take the best lessons of my childhood and combine them with the best lessons I've learned later on.

and write about everything not just one subject.
Now if i were a writer i'd follow that advice :)
