ARGH! Lost my mouse's rollerball
Sep. 14th, 2007 05:34 pmTook the mouse apart to clean it, and the rollerball rolled off the table onto the floor, and now, I can't find it anywhere...
Right now, I'm using the mouse by sticking my fingers inside, and turning the those little navigation rollers manually. Not good for the mouse, but I have no other way to use it, and I can't get the spare mouse out of the closet, or go digging around on the floor for the ball.
Other than that, I have to wait for Audrey to come in on Monday, for help.
I will either get very good at using the mouse upside down and inside out, or get very frustrated, and stop using the computer all weekend...
now, I need to go up, up, up, and right, right, and change the userpic...
[ETA: Found the rollerball. It had rolled under some folded-over paper and was perfectly hidden until I just happened to look at it from the perfect angle while sitting half-way between the door to my office and my desk.
However -- I'm still having the problem that prompted me to take it apart in the first place: It rolls up, down, and to the right. But not to the left. No visible gunk around that side roller either. I can make the cursor move left manually, but I really have to apply a lot of pressure to the side roller, and it feels like I'm stretching a rubberband, if you can sense what I mean... I think I'll check out that link for the keyboard alternative.
:::sigh::: I remember when all programs let you choose between keyboard and mouse controls]
