Yes, he's a Democrat, and yes, I voted for him over the Republican when he ran in 2006. But really, his pollitics are generally right of my own, and if he'd been running in New York, he probably would have been running as a Republican (it's a spectrum, and it's all relative).
But today, in a radio interview, he said something that made me tip my hat to him, figuratively speaking.
Just for those who don't know, he's Whitey McWhitewhite, and he said, of his political history:
"Well, you know, for someone from my social and ethnic background..."
I think may be the first time that I've heard a white Protestant politico publically acknowledge that "white" is just as much an "ethnicity" as "black" or "brown" or "red" or "yellow."
