NaArMaMo is Coming! NaArMaMo is Coming!

There are a few new people on my Friends List since NaArMaMo came around last year, so I am pimping it afresh.

What is NaArMaMo?

It's 99.44% as Fun as Christmas! That's what it is, and it lasts a whole month, too!

Ahem. Maybe I need to be a bit more specific, yes? NAtional ARt MAking MOnth. It's an LJ community (

naarmamo).

We dedicate each day of August to creating Art -- of any and all kinds that you may wish: painting, drawing, photography, writing, composing, arranging the jam jars in your kitchen cabinet, dancing across the lawn through the water sprinklers -- you name it, we celebrate it. The only real rule is that we each make a new piece of art each day, rather than creating One Grand Masterwork. That's the thing: challenging your brain to think of new things, things that exist for their own, beautiful sakes.

Then, we share what we've done as replies to that day's post in the comm -- we can upload the images, or just talk about what we've done in words. Here's what we did for August 16, 2007, just as an example.

Oh, but I'm terrible at art!

That's okay. No one will judge you, or your art. The point is to have fun doing it. We're all very good at positive feedback, and will only give constructive criticism if you ask for it.

But I couldn't possibly do it for a whole 31 days!

That's okay, too. Even if you drop out after day 3, you'll still have 3 pieces of art that you didn't have before, right? And we love lurkers, too.
