So, still thinking about my comic book character, I thought I'd surf the Web and look for clues for what a second pair of shoulders (to support the wings) might look like on a person. And, though following links, I found the abstract written by the folks who figured out that Microraptor qui flew like a biplane (and they totally encourage you to download the pics for use in lectures and such, so I did):


I found detail "I" in fig. 2 particularly amusing; click to enlarge, then scroll to the bottom to see it. For some reason, I thought spiralsheep would especially appreciate it.
