Yes. Went to the library on Wednesday.

My reactions to the changes they made since I was there last, in December, and my reactions to specific books I've borrowed comprise most of those "Big Thoughts" that are in my head, all jumbled up that I posted a poll about, the other day.

A post, or several posts, about all of this is coming, I promise.

I am just too hungry and headachey now, to tackle any of it.

Some-buddy give me a poke if I don't produce said post[s] in a few days, okay?

In the meantime, the idea struck me that one gift I could stick in with the book I'm trying to write for my family's New Year gift, would be to get CafePress or someplace like that to print up sets of small refrigerator magnets with images from some of my LJ icons on them. 100 x 100 pixels come out to be about 1 1/4 inches square. Which is a nice size for a fridge magnet. And my icons are one of the ways I present my personality and philosophy to the world.

What do you think?

I ran sticker sheets through my printer to make lj icon stickers once. Why, yes, I am dorky. I'd never thought of fridge magnets though. I might have to get one of the sheep.

The woman who runs The Art Garden is also a caligraphry artist, and occasionally she slips small refrigerator magnets (or bookmarks) inside her annual Christmas cards. That's what gave me the idea.

One magnet she sent out a couple of years back read: "Life is a wonder. And you're the wondee."

[eta: every refrigerator should have a MontyPython!Sheep. *nods* Other icons that I strongly associate with you (and would work on ref.s) are the Raven one, and "there is no cure for curiosity."]

If you've got a color printer, you can buy magnetic "paper" which you can print on. I made ACME Page Fillers, Inc. fridge magnets for Christmas one year. They were a hit.

Oooh, Nifty galifty! I love shiny new toy-thingies!

(Btw, how strong is the magnet paper? can you actually pin stuff to the fridge, or just decorate it?)

They're pretty much the same as the usual advertising fridge magnets. They're basically a plastic magnet sheet with a well-stuck sticker of ink-jet ready paper on top. I printed mine out, several on a "page" then cut them to size.

This is a link to Avery's page on the material. (You might be able to find it for less elsewhere.)
