I took my glasses off before I went to bed, like a normal human. And now, I cannot, for the life of me, remember where I'd put them.

When they weren't on my bedside table, I thought: I must have taken them off when I turned off my computer.

When they weren't beside my computer keyboard, I thought I must have taken them off in the kitchen, when I went there to turn out the light.

When they weren't on the kitchen table, or by the microwave, I thought: Did I watch TV before toddling off, and forget?

And so on.

They're fairly weak, prescription-wise, and some days I can almost forget that I need them. But reading small print on people's journals is just a bit of a strain. I'm discovering that cupping my hands around the sides of my face seems to help, for some reason (I wonder if it's the same principle as cuping your hand behind your ear to help you hear). But I can't type like that...

They're around here somewhere. They have to be.... Unless some alien or bogle stole them while I slept.

I also forgot to buy benedryl-clone when I went shopping on Thursday, and as the drug is draining out of my system, I'm starting to feel my allergies a bit more.

Oh well. I can have Audrey pick some up for me tomorrow.

[ETA: Found 'em! They were on the table behind the TV, instead of in front of it (must have taken them off when I turned out the living room light) Now, I just have to clean them *facepalm*]

I think I only got married so I could always have someone on glasses-finding duty. :D

Woe. :( But yes, I regularly have conversations with Don that go "I can't find my thingy!" And he says "Did you look on top of the fridge?" Because apparently "thingy" is a word he can translate from Anna into useful.

I have married friends who do that. It's like their own language.

The wife in that couple is my best friend from university, and we both worked in the campus observatory with a professor who would say things like "We need to get a new cable for the thingummy" or "Can you get me a different whatsit from the cabinet?" and we'd always know what he meant.

I spend at least an hour everyday looking for things. I have both computer glasses and regular glasses to lose. Also my purse (which if I remembered to put my phone in, I can at least call to help find it).

Luckily my dog always finds me.

Also: cupping your hands around your eyes may reduce glare from other bright objects -- windows, lamps, etc. -- and that will help you read the screen better.

It's not the same as cupping your ears to hear better, because that's partly about blocking extraneous sound but also partly about redirecting and amplifying sound waves (like an ear trumpet). Your hands aren't doing that to the light from the computer screen.

I don't know which browser you use, but many have text zooming by holding down CTRL and pressing + or -, or some other key combination or menu option.

I hate when I manage to drop my glasses between the bed and the shelves when grabbing for them in the morning, done it a few times and unless I can get my brother to look for them, takes ages to track them dwn in blur-o-vision.

There are keyrings you can get that do that. It just depends whether this is enough of a problem to be worth going through life with a keyring attached to your glasses. :)
