No! I will not go back and change it. If you wanted the beggar's ghost to be the mentor, instead of the wizard, you should have spoken up when we started out. Now, sit down, and be quiet.

If you behave for the rest of this trip, maybe we'll go out for ice cream later.

FOUR HOURS LATER:

Okay, Fine! Have it your way! I'll write the extra dream scenes, but I WILL NOT rewrite what's already written. No, it doesn't matter that it makes no sense. I'll just stick the dream sequences on at the end-- yes, even if they actually happen at the beginning.

And no ice cream for you...

Hah! This sort of conversation makes up the bulk of what myself and my novel talk about, except I always end up rewriting.

If my novel had just been sensible, and spoken up in the first couple of days, or if I didn't have the challenge of finishing it in the next week, I would have started over and rewritten the past, too.

But there are limits. Expecting someone to completely disassemble a work that is 71% complete with only 26% of the time left (not including the days and hours that will be lost in my trip to New York, this weekend), is Completely. Unreasonable. and Rude.
