capri0mni: Pencil sketch of a thought balloon in three-d, with the word "sigh" (Sigh)
I'm really, sorry, for the first time, that all my favorite family members (paternal grandmother Josie, favorite paternal uncle Arthur, and both my parents) were cremated. Because I doubt I'll be seeing them in the crowds that are being shown on the news.

...I could use a hug, right now. But I'm also afraid of being touched, despite what I wrote just a while ago.

*sigh*.

If I saw any friends out there, I might be able to hold on to my sanguinity (is that a word?), but I don't, so...

So I'm going to hide, and make myself a cup of cocoa, with real sugar, not splenda, because, at this point, why the hell not? And I need some cheering.

If any of you are safe, out there, and still able to get onto the 'Nets and see this, please post a reply (unless your 'puter is too close to a window, or something, of course).

I keep seeing stuff on the 'Nets about a spreading disease, or something, that makes people violent and want to bite others, with a rush of adrenyline (Sp?) that somehow makes everyone move slowly and shuffling, too.

A couple of times, I've seen people use the word 'zombies.' If it is a spontaneous uprising of the dead, I suspect it's not so bad as people are fearing. After all, death is simply another state of being. Why do (living) people always assume that others will turn evil as soon as they die? The way I see it, people just keep being the people they've always been.

Now, granted, in the olden days, zombies were brought to life by living necromancers, and enslaved, and forced to fight in wars so TPTB and monarchs, lords and princes, et alia, could keep the wars going indefinitely while keeping themselves safe and comfy.* That would be a mess to deal with. But if the zombies (if that's, in fact, what's going on), are rising up on their own, there's no reason why they would choose to be violent. And if we all get infected, then we'll all be zombies, and I really doubt that zombies would be afraid of zombies, right?

Frankly, I haven't seen anything yet. There's no one out that I can see... But then again, everyone leaves for work before I wake up in the morning. The world outside my window is pretty much deserted of human life during the day, anyway. There might be a lot more of this going on down in Virginia Beach, or Norfolk, which is the business sector in this region. So maybe it's just a bunch of rumors. ... Though [livejournal.com profile] liziebelle and [livejournal.com profile] jekesta seem to be noticing odd goings on, too.

And just now, I heard on NPR that there were fires in the subway during rush hour this morning, in Washington, DC, and fire hours without power... But I've been writing this post with the radio on in the background, so I missed a few details. Sorry.

Now, I am more glad than ever that I turned that guy who was selling extermination services door-to-door, the other day. The last thing I need to deal with is zombie fire ants and wasps, who, if I had sanctioned their execution by poison would be personally angry with me...

*Hm. Now I wonder if this is a side effect of some desperate attempt of the Bush administration to supply enough soldiers to the Iraq war, and it backfired. Well, if so, there will be even more voters available to vote Democratic, in November. ...And the polling officials can't use the death rolls to keep people away (a girl can hope, can't she?)
