capri0mni: A black Skull & Crossbones with the Online Disability Pride Flag as a background (eyes)

This one's for you, [livejournal.com profile] uncacreamy, because a while back, you said I should have a default icon of myself. :-) The rough draft is on the right, and the finished version is on the left (thanks to fellow naarnite [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen for your concrit).

I also flipped the two eyes, so they'd be as they appaar to others, rather than a mirror image; I read, somewhere, once, that that's why so few of us like the way we look in photos, because we're so used to seeing ourselves as our mirror images that a photo, no matter how good, looks weird to us.

I actually tried to draw a fresh self portrait of both my eyes at once, but I was getting artist's freeze. I think it might be easier if I were working from a photo. But I don't have anyone to take my picture. :::Sigh:::

This is one piece, but there are two sides to it -- closed:

and open:

I plead poor planning, a late start, frustration with media (Crayola crayons aren't as I remember them; you have to fight with a lot of colors to get anything out of them, and the greens are downright insipid!), and a heavy dose of laziness after my third attempt to get it right.

If I'd had greater confidence in the life expectancy of my color ink cartridge, and my ability to perfectly allign the two sides of a printed piece of paper, I would have done 50%-75% of this on the computer.

I'm only 37% happy with the results, but still 99.7% happy with the concept...
