Sorry today's party post took so long to go up. I was trying to figure out how "parlor-type" games would work when everyone is replying out of sync with each other. I hope the variations I've come up with will work.

What I've decided to do: Start a new comment thread for each game with the name of the game in the title, and the first post having the rules. Then, if you want to play that game, you reply to that post (or to a reply to a reply in that thread). That way, people can see who's responding to what...

I hope that makes sense.

Maybe it would be better if I just started, so you can see what I mean.

Fictionary:

Here are the rules for "Fictionary" as provided by Wikipedia (abbreviated by me):

• One player, the "picker" for the turn, chooses an obscure word from the dictionary and announces and spells it to the other players.
  
• The chosen word should be one that the picker expects no other player to know. If a player is familiar with the chosen word, they should say so and the picker should choose a different word.
  
• If a word has more than one definition listed, the Picker privately chooses which one to use, but in such a case must specify, "X, when it does not mean so-and-so." Generally, the Picker can edit the dictionary definition as they desire.
  
• Each player writes a crafty and credible definition of the word, initials it, and submits it to the word picker.
  
• The Picker collects and shuffles the definitions, including their own, which is the correct one.
  
• Once all definitions have been handed in, the picker reads the list aloud.
  
• Each other player in turn then votes for the definition they believe is correct.
  
• Players earn one point for voting for the correct definition, and one point for each vote cast for the definition they wrote.
  
• Play then proceeds with the dictionary going to another player, which starts a new turn. A full circuit of the dictionary constitutes a round

and then, people can reply to your word with their guess at the definition, or vote for another person's definition by replying with a Plus sign: +.

It's challenging to play when the internet is right there, but this was one of my happy family memories.

Fissilingual: a common birth difference in snakes of the Indian sub-continent, where the "fork" in the tongue doesn't develop.

Since scarfman said this was his favorite meme (And frankly, I'm embarrassed that I didn't remember it when answering my own question), I thought we could have some Iambic Dimeter fun.

There are no "Rules" for this, per se, but here's an excerpt from a Tumblr Post, that explains the origin of the meme:

A couple of months ago there was a Reddit thread about health inspection violations, and a user by the name of Chamale told the following story: “My stepdad used to be a baker in an authentic recreation of an 18th century New French fortress. Because they sell bread to the public, the health inspector came by, and she was ripping into my stepdad for violations like the stonework walls, the doorless entranceways, or the lack of a mosquito zapper. He pointed out that they were following the highest standards except for things that would destroy the authenticity of this 18th-century bakery. The health inspector relented and agreed to give him a pass after verifying the food storage area was secure. They went to the shed, which was a doorless building attached to the bakery. As thehealth inspector went in, there happened to be an escaped cow licking all of the loaves. My stepdad could only say, ‘Honestly, this never happens.’ They passed the health inspection.”

In response to this, another Reddit user named Poem_for_your_sprog (whose work is generally worth a look, btw) wrote him a little poem, with vaguely ye olde spellings:

Okay, this is sort of the opposite of "fictionary."

What a concept, or idea, or thing, or feeling, or ... whatever... that doesn't have a word, but you think it needs one?

Tell us what you think needs a word, and maybe someone will help invent a word for it.

My submission is: An analogous word for Widow or Widower, but for a sibling that's died, not a spouse or a parent...

You may have seen me state this opinion before: Now that fanfiction has come largely to mean any derivative work, we need a new word for unlicensed derivative work of a property under copyright.

Hm. Since this subset of fanfiction is created in defiance of some corporation (usually), perhaps we can call it "Wildcat fiction"... After the term "Wildcat Strike," from Labor history ???

BTW, what do you think of Series 11's new musical style?

I like what I've taken note of, primarily the new theme arrangement. It sounds nice and otherworldy to me, though that may be because I don't listen to anything but Western music. The new Doctor's theme is fun too if not as unconventional to my ear.
